What Are The Different Types Of Anesthesia?

Alternative Anesthesia Options

As many patients who are considering having plastic surgery, you will be more concerned about safety than the actual Anesthesia Services operation. Anesthesia has evolved over the years to be a very safe and secure medical procedure. Anesthesia has improved the odds of survival by reducing the risk of death.

You still want the best person to take care of your needs while you are under anesthesia or in deep sleep. It is important to be familiar with the training of the person responsible for administering your medication and monitoring your vital signs. Anesthesia preparation can vary greatly from a trained medical professional with a medical diploma to someone who is a nurse.

Here's a list of specialists who can perform anesthesia or sedation.

* Anesthesiologist: He went to medical school, and received additional preparation that allowed him to be certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

* CRNA (certified registered nurse anesthetist): A CRNA, a registered nurse (RN), has completed at least two additional years of anesthesiology education. They are certified to perform anesthesia. The state nursing board supervises the qualification.

* Registered nurse: An RN can administer intravenous sedation under the guidance of a physician and supervise your critical signs.

* Certified plastic surgeon nurse (CPSN: These are specialists in cosmetic surgery and have at least two years experience before they can take the national certification test. In terms of sedation, they have the same responsibilities as registered nurses.

* Surgeon: Sometimes your surgeon will give you drugs to induce sleepiness and sedate you. A nurse will usually monitor your vital signs while you are being operated on.

A superior board determines who will perform anesthesia in a clinic or ASC. Under the supervision of an anesthesiologist, it will be either a CRNA or an anesthesiologist.
